This is the correct URL for pre-call notes for the Jan. 16 JTM-Denver program call.

We'll post a discussion agenda within one hour of the call at this URL. The number to call in on:

1-641-715-3200 132888#

Fellow JTM collaborators:

You are receiving this email because you've been talking with Bill Densmore or Lynn Clark about "Journalism is Dead; Long Live Journalism," the next Journalism That Matters convening, April 3-4, 2013 at the University of Denver:

http://www.thenewjournalism.org

JTM's Peggy Holman and I would like to join Lynn Clark and as many of you as possible next Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 12:30 p.m. MOUNTAIN TIME (11:30 a.m. PST, 2:30 p.m. EST, 1:30 p.m. CST), for our first program update and planning teleconference.

If you can respond to a Google Calendar invite, we'll now send one, and reply with a note if you can or can't make this call time. Or just reply to this email!

The number to call at that time: 641-715-3200 The access code is 132888# ... after hitting the pound sign, the system will recite the passcode you have just entered -- listen that it got it right -- then hit "1" and you'll be connected to the conference. If there is nobody else there by a minute or so after 12:30 p.m., hang up and try again; occasionally the Free Conference Call service shunts you to the wrong "room" even though it seems you dialed correctly.

Please check this URL starting no later than one hour before the call for a sense of what we'll be talking about as well as any important links to consider.

(It's just placeholding text right now, so you can bookmark the link).

Some key likely topics and some of our "experts" who may be on the call:

-- Program/schedule ideas (Peggy Holman)
   DRAFT: http://journalismthatmatters.org/newjournalism/program/

-- Ideas for involving Colorado high-school students (Lynn Clark, Laura Frank)

-- "Mapping" the Front Range media ecosystem (all)

-- Climate-change reporting as a core focus of journalism (Tom Yulsman)

-- Deliberations around reimaginging "the story" (Ted Anthony)

-- The new ethic of civic engagement (Kelly McBride, Mike Fancher, Jan Schaffer)

There's a possibility we will know by Tuesday who the Estlow Center's Anvil of Freedom award winner will be for 2013. That person will be our keynote speaker on Wednesday evening.

We look forward to this first group planning call. In my conversations with each of you I have a sense that the Denver region is ready to embrace this gathering so it's time to get the word out!
